It is about individuals looking at the changes we can make in our own lives to contribute towards a sustainable tomorrow. The ASU encourages our members and supporters to have a look at this initiative of which we are a formal supporter - an "organisation that cares". |

The ASU is a proud supporter of the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign and we support this campaign under the ASU banner of "unions against poverty". We support the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY organisation not only because poverty is a situation no one should have to endure but also because poverty in one part of the world affects everyone eventually. |

Movember (the month formerly known as November) is an annual charity event held during November. At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo, raising money along the way to benefit men's health - specifically prostate cancer and male depression. In 2009 the ASU fielded a team to raise fund during Movember and we managed to get over $3,500. Depression in the workplace is an OHS issue facing many of our male members. |

Go Home On Time Day on November 25 is an initiative of the Australia Institute arising from their research showing that Australians work over 2 billion hours of unpaid overtime every year. In trying to raise awareness about this issue, the hope is that Australian workers will be encouraged to try a better work-life balance approach to their daily hours. |
