Arising from a resolution of National Conference 2000, the ASU National Office coordinated a Delegates' Rights Committee, whose main task was to put together a charter of delegates' rights. All ASU Branches were invited to nominate representatives, in particular, members currently in the role of delegate, for the committee. The National Office was represented by a few different officers but the Committee was chaired and organised by National Secretary Paul Slape. For further information, please contact Paul. National Conference 2002 endorsed the Charter presented by the committee in early December. The Charter is now available for download - see right hand column. Plans are also afoot to revamp the Shop Stewards' (delegates', workplace representatives') Manual to bring it up to speed with recent developments. When that document is completed it too will be available for download from this page. Other union sites have useful information on issues facing delegates. We hope to build this page in the future to provide links to a comprehensive set resources for delegates.
