What does the National Office do in contrast to the Branches?

Branches have responsibility for most of the day to day duties of representing the interests of their members. The National Office usually becomes involved where there are national industries and employers whose employees are covered by national awards and agreements. We also act as an information disseminator ensuring all parts of the ASU communicate with each other and share their valuable experiences. The National Office is also the point at which national affiliations occur to bodies like the ACTU and the international trade union secretariats (see our links page to see their websites). The National Office works with national bodies like the ACTU on national wage test cases and other national issues.
