Ansett staff - time to reclaim super
AUSFund says that over 2500 former Ansett employees have not claimed around $53million in superannuation funds after the airline collapsed in September 2001 and the money is now in AUSfund which acts as a holding fund for super funds that have lost track of their members. This money was previously in the Ansett Ground Staff Super Fund and the Ansett Flight Attendants Super Fund. Ansett Creditors vote for pooling
Creditors in all the 40 Ansett companies today voted to pool the assets and liabilities of all the companies into the one company so as to simplify the ongoing administration of the Ansett group of companies. This means that the Administrators are now able to pay out an estimated $75 million to the employee creditors and to the Commonwealth Government. Ansett Payments Update
The Supreme Court of Victoria was due to formally issue Orders in the Ground Staff Superannuation Case on 20 January 2003 (see ASU Bulletin 30 for background). The hearing date for the issue of Orders has now been adjourned until 4 February 2003, which means the appeal deadline for the Trustees of the Superannuation Fund will be 21 days from 4 February 2003 which is 25 February 2003 if the orders are issued on 4 February 2003. 22 January 2003 [full story]
