Enterprise bargaining process begins at Link

05 July 2006

The ASU has surveyed Link workers in order to prepare a claim for management and kick off enterprise bargaining. Make sure you have your say and get involved in the process.

The ASU has surveyed staff at LINK Q and the following are some of the significant results:

  • Only 45% understood and could find their entitlements.
  • 92% wanted existing entitlements included in the next agreement.
  • Only 5% were satisfied with redundancy entitlements.
  • 86% believed LINK Q should keep up with other call centres.
  • 94% believed their wages should keep up with average weekly earnings.
  • 98% want pay rises to keep up with inflation.
  • 72% would like access to unpaid leave.

A full copy of the survey questions and results are available for download below.

ASU seeks talks with LinkQ

The ASU is seeking to represent our members to seek a fair agreement for all.

Therefore, on behalf of our members, the ASU served a formal notice on LinkQ to ensure that we could meet with them to discuss the agreement.

The EBA claim that we served was based on what you said in the survey and includes:

  • 6% wage increase per annum
  • Consistent wage rates
  • Roll over existing entitlements
  • NSW Redundancy standard
  • Higher duties allowance
  • OHS promotion

The notice seeks a "collective agreement". The ASU recommends a union collective agreement because Union agreements on average deliver higher wages and are more secure.

What about the current EA negotiations?

Management cancelled the EA Workshop on the morning of Tuesday 4th July. We are not sure why this happened. Nothing in the correspondence we sent prevents the usual negotiations from occurring and the meeting could have gone ahead as scheduled.

We are not seeking to derail the process - we want to represent our members to seek a fair agreement for all.

What happens from here?

The ASU will meet with LinkQ to talk about the proposed Agreement.

The negotiating committee will - presumably - also continue to meet.

The ASU can provide support and advice to any member of the negotiating committee or any other staff member about the process.
