Your Rights At Work are still worth fighting and voting for!

Three years ago the ASU in conjunction with the ACTU harnessed broad community support to get rid of WorkChoices - and succeeded. The result was the Labor Government's Fair Work laws, which have restored many workers' rights. These changes are a good first step but more needs to be done in a range of areas - especially for construction workers and people on awards.

Recently, Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced a Federal election for August 21.

Everything we have achieved so far is all under threat once again. We need to make sure that union members and the broader community are fully aware of the Liberals' plans to bring back WorkChoices (or whatever name they choose to call it). We need to prosecute the case for workers' rights and policies that will deliver better lives for working people and their families.

The ASU and ACTU are determined to campaign for stronger rights for workers and better workplace laws regardless of which party is in government.

We are asking for you to be active in the 'WorkChoices: Whatever the Name, Never Again' campaign.

Tony Abbott was a key Minister in the former Liberal Government that introduced WorkChoices. Now, he wants to bring it back. He just won't call it WorkChoices. When he was first elected leader of the Liberals, Mr Abbott said, "The phrase WorkChoices is dead," and it is now clear that this means he will only change its name.

We made the difference in 2007 and we can make the difference again in 2010.

TOGETHER we can SPREAD THE WORD and MAKE THE DIFFERENCE we DESERVE!

Election gear

We have recently added election gear items to our website and encourage all members to partake and spread the word to the broader community: "WorkChoices: Whatever the name, NEVER AGAIN"
