Info Tech: Canon

Progress…. almost at Canon

06 October 2009

The ASU met with Canon management in an attempt to further negotiate a new agreement for Technical Consultants. The meetings occurred on Thursday 30 September and Friday 1 October at North Ryde.

Why is it taking so long?

There are a number of Technicians claims which Canon have rejected since bargaining commenced.

Canon have heard you express your views of dissatisfaction with their response both through voting no to their proposed agreements and through your petition.

The introduction of the Fair Work Act which replaced Workchoices did not bring about significant delays but did provide the ASU with the opportunity to seek important information about  your current pay system

Canon have responded with some detail to those questions and those responses have only made your negotiating team even more determined to pursue a` fair and equitable wage outcome for all Technicians,

So what is the progress?

At this latest meeting the ASU was able to pursue Canon to provide the details of just exactly what they require in order to finalise this agreement. The ASU was also able to respond about the issues of significance for our members, the reason why these are so important and what needs to be remedied to achieve a result.

Canon told your negotiating team  what  their final claims are and Canon are also to provide the ASU with written confirmation of those claims.

To date these have not yet been received by the ASU.

Questions?

For further details on the negotiations contact your ASU Delegate or NCC Rep or contact your local ASU organiser a call.
