ASU & NCC meet with Canon regarding job losses
The ASU met with Canon 14 November 2007 (Bulletin 16 November) to receive the news from Canon that there were impending job losses. Today,30 November 2007, the ASU and then the NCC were briefed by Canon on their intended next steps to commence the process for reducing the number of jobs in the BISG sector.

Canon announce significant job losses before Christmas
Canon national management made contact with the ASU on 14 November 2007 to advise that a series of meetings are being held with employees across Australia to announce a major restructure in the Business Imagining (BSIG) division of Canon. At this stage ASU members across Canon have no idea of exactly when or how many of them may lose their jobs and if their jobs will be gone before or after Christmas.

Canon Agreement approved
Fair Work Australia (FWA) has approved the Canon Australia (Technical Consultants) Collective Agreement 2009. FWA approved the Agreement on Friday 16 April 2010 after seeking an undertaking from the employer that the clauses relating to right of entry and union rights were in accordance with the Fair Work Act. This undertaking was given by Canon and the ASU agreed.

Canon NCC meets for first time since agreement finalised
The Canon NCC met by teleconference, Wednesday 26 July 2006. Dispute to be heard by Fair Work Australia on Canon subcontracting to CSG Communications Pty Ltd
A dispute has been lodged with Fair Work Australia regarding the transmission of Technicians from Canon Australia Pty Ltd to CSG Communications Pty Ltd (CSG). ASU Delegates and officials have been seeking all of the necessary information from Canon to determine whether the jobs they will be transmitted to are of a similar or not less favourable nature.
