Help raise funds for justice in Western Sahara

08 February 2010

February 27 is the Western Sahara National Day and to celebrate the day, Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA and the Australian Western Sahara Association are hosting an event at the Clare Café Bar Bistro in Carlton (Victoria). The event is being supported by the ASU, which is a long time supporter of the Western Sahara freedom movement.

Money raised will assist the Australia Western Sahara Association (AWSA) to continue lobbying governments to achieve justice for the Saharawi people by highlighting the ongoing human rights violations and Australia's role in the exploitation of Western Sahara's natural resources, which goes against the 2002 Hans Correll UN legal opinion.

Money raised will also go to Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA for projects in Western Sahara. Western Sahara refugees have been living in refugee camps for the last 34 years in inhospitable conditions, waiting for the long promised UN brokered vote of self‐determination.

We hope that you will come and join us, and support us in striving for a peaceful resolution to the injustice perpetrated against the Saharawi people.
