Clearing the air at BoysTown

29 October 2009

As a result of negotiations between the ASU and BoysTown management, anyone currently employed under an Individual Transitional Employment Agreement (ITEA) or an AWA will now have the right to terminate their ITEA or AWA and be employed under the BoysTown Collective Agreement.

What does this mean?

When the new Collective Agreement is finalised it will ensure that you are receiving all your entitlements as per your relevant Award, and any additional benefits and/or entitlements that have been negotiated into the agreement.

All staff will be covered as one so you can easily understand what your workplace rights and entitlements are.

Individual Transitional Employment Agreement (ITEA)

If you are currently under an Individual Transitional Employment Agreement (ITEA) this is an arrangement with you only and it may be a lesser agreement than what you would be entitled to under the BoysTown Collective Agreement when it is finalised.

Signing a ‘Termination” Form

When you sign the 'termination' of your ITEA OR AWA form, this has no affect on your employment. It simply means the termination of the ITEA or AWA. Your ITEA or AWA will continue to cover your employment until the Collective Agreement is finalised and voted on.

Questions?

No doubt the above will raise a number of questions that you may need some answers to. For example,

  • Will I be disadvantaged by moving from my ITEA to the collective agreement?
  • Do I have to change over from an ITEA to the collective agreement?
  • Can I swap back to an ITEA?
  • Are there timeframes that I need to consider?

Your ASU Organiser will be available to advice about this change. You can contact your local Organiser on the numbers below.
