EBA closer after productive meeting

After the latest P&O Nedlloyd EBA meeting held on Tuesday we feel we are much closer to arriving at a new EBA agreement. This is thanks to the feedback that we received from ASU members in response to some of the proposals that had previously been put by the company. This meeting saw movement on some key issues in a direction that we believe will benefit both employees and the company if they are finalised.

The following are issues that are getting closer to agreement:

  • New pay offer: 4% per year, including 1% performance linked
  • New Salary Structure Proposal
  • 14 weeks paid maternity leave
  • 6 weeks paid adoption / paternity leave
  • EBA to cover all staff, with exclusions for specific clauses
  • No individual contracts
  • New redundancy offer:

Under 1 year: 6 weeks Nil
1- 2 years: 6 weeks 3 weeks
2 - 5 years: 3 weeks per year + 5 weeks 3 weeks per year
5 + years: 3 weeks per year (max. 78 weeks) + 4 weeks 3 weeks per year (max 78 weeks)
Over 45: additional 2 weeks additional 1 week pay
Over 50: additional 4 weeks additional 2 weeks pay
Over 55: additional 6 weeks additional 3 weeks pay

These amounts would be in addition to the current amounts for notice periods

Where to from here?

Negotiations are continuing. If these go well, we may be in a position to put a new agreement to a vote before Christmas. Key issues that remain to be finalised are the classification structure, job security provisions and the implementation of and performance based salary. We are expecting a revised draft agreement from the company this week. Once this has been received, we will undertake extensive consultation as to its contents.
