ASU energy delegation meeting with Shadow Minister for the Environment Peter Garret

Energy industry planning

02 October 2007

By ASU - the energy industry union

The ASU national electricity-energy division committee recently met to review the division's work plan for 2007, review the current industry issues and update officials from each state on the current issues under negotiation, state by state across the country.

The meeting allowed the energy division to discuss and develop responses around a range of key issues, including:

  • the industry's responses to climate change;
  • ASU participation on the CSIRO Energy Futures Forum;
  • NSW US Branch anti-privatisation campaign;
  • national industry skills training and skills shortages;
  • enterprise bargaining outcomes;
  • occupational health and safety; and
  • other related industry matters.

If you would like further information on these matters, please contact your ASU Branch energy official or ASU Assistant National Secretary Greg McLean (contact details below).

As the division met in Canberra on this occasion, the division also took the opportunity to meet with Labor's Environmental spokesperson Peter Garrett and Energy spokesperson Chris Evans. This is part of the ASU's relationship development with politicians which allows us to be an effective voice for the concerns of energy industry workers.
