ASU update on Flight Centre announcements about store closures

16 March 2020 By ASU

ASU members have contacted us about media reports that Flight Centre will be closing 100 stores Australia wide.

The ASU has commenced some discussions with key Human Resources team members about the Company’s consultation obligations.

We have also has sought to meet with Company decision makers and for those meetings to include you.

Victoria Harris confirmed in discussions today with our Queensland Together branch that there have been no definite decisions made regarding which stores may close and no decisions with respect to staff impacts of closures. If there are decisions that affect staff there will be full consultation in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

As decisions are made, the business has agreed to consult directly with the ASU. We will forward updates to members about the consultation process as it unfolds.

Speak with your ASU Organiser or local workplace delegates about your concerns.

If you wish to raise concerns about work you can always talk more with ASU Organisers or contact your branch.

The ASU has a network of representatives across Australia you can contact your local reps.
