Be ready: Menzies Aviation wants to put off your pay increase from 1 July 2020 to 1 January 2021

05 May 2020 By ASU, the airlines industry union

On 5 May 2020, Menzies' management wrote to the ASU notifying us that the Company wants to vary your enterprise agreement to delay your pay increase from 1 July 2020 to 1 January 2021. This affects members in Melbourne and Sydney covered by the Menzies Aviation (Sydney and Melbourne) Customer Service Enterprise Agreement 2018 ('EBA').

Melbourne and Sydney PAX employees are due a 3% pay increase on 1 July 2020. This pay increase was negotiated by ASU members and reflects your increasing contribution to the company and the rising cost of living.

We've written to the company asking them to negotiate with you in good faith. We want to understand why they are asking to delay your pay increase. It doesn't make sense when everyone is stood down, and the government is paying most of your wages with JobKeeper. If it's about saving money, we think there's probably a better way to do it. You can read our letter here.

We've asked for more information and a meeting date.

MENZIES CAN ASK YOU TO VOTE FOR THE VARIATION WITH ONLY ONE DAYS' NOTICE. IF YOU ARE ASKED TO VOTE, VOTE 'NO'.
