Virgin ploughs ahead with taking your Easter Sunday DILs

16 March 2018 By ASU, the airlines industry union

virgin bulletin generic button500pxwASU members are angry that management has unilaterally decided to take away DILs for people who are not rostered on Easter Sunday, even though it has been standard practice for many years.

This decision was made by management, who did not even bother to consult with employees or advise the ASU before making its announcement.

The ASU had an urgent meeting with management where we raised member’s concerns that management only gave employees 3 weeks’ notice of this change, and that they chose to wait until after bargaining was finished to make the announcement.

We asked Virgin to allow employees to accrue Easter Sunday DILs in 2018, as they have been in previous years. Management took this away and considered it for 24 hours, however have now responded and advised that they will proceed with taking away the DILs as previously advised.

This is very disappointing, and members have told us they are feeling really disrespected and tricked by management. We will continue to raise these issues with management at the National Consultative Committee.
