Keep Australia Flying – campaign launch

23 February 2021 By ASU

The ASU is campaigning for ongoing income support and wage subsidies for the aviation sector to make sure aviation workers and our industry are supported through this crisis and the COVID-19 recovery.

We have launched our campaign to Keep Australia Flying because nobody should be left behind by this crisis.

Scott Morrison plans to cut JobKeeper in March which will leave the future of the aviation industry in jeopardy and thousands of jobs on the line.

We can rebuild stronger. This is the time we need to see action to create strong industries and secure jobs in Australia – and that includes in airlines.

To Keep Australia Flying the Federal Government must act urgently to support airlines workers now and in the future!

We have held a MASS member meeting to launch our campaign along with launching our Keep Australia Flying report in February.

Airlines workers have been hard by COVID, but we are coming together to fight and make sure that when Australia is ready to fly again our experienced and skilled aviation workers are too.

Take action with us today to Keep Australia Flying!

Can you email Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Deputy PM Michael McCormack & Tourism Minister Dan Tehan to tell them we need Aviation Keeper Now to Keep Australia Flying?

The ASU has written to the Prime Minister but we need every member to take action to get the federal government to commit to supporting airlines workers!

The Keep Australia Flying report tells the human toll of COVID-19 on the workers in aviation and what must be done now to ensure the future of Australian aviation.

Key findings from the ASU Keep Australia Flying report:

  • 3 in 4 aviation workers won’t be able to support their families if JobKeeper is cut Nearly half of all workers had been forced to access their superannuation early.
  • 88% have seen their household financially impacted by COVID-19
  • 1 in 5 do not qualify for any government-funded scheme
  • 82% do not feel their job is secure

Our Keep Australia Flying report highlights the urgent need for swift and meaningful action from the Federal Government to support aviation workers, save the industry and Keep Australia Flying.
