A coalition of civil society groups and unions around the world has organised a global day of action on 18 April to demonstrate against the negotiation of harmful trade agreements. PSI endorses this day of action and encourages affiliates to participate.
The new wave of trade and investment agreements such as the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), Trade in Services Agreement (TISA) and many others go far beyond previous trade agreements. Negotiated in secret they enshrine corporate rights, facilitate privatisation and undermine governments' ability to regulate in the public interest.
PSI has been working with union and civil society allies to campaign against these agreements.
