Qantas Courier has circulated a proposed EBA for employees to vote on. The ASU advises our members to vote ''NO''.
During bargaining the ASU team sought to negotiate the best outcome possible for employees at Qantas Courier. However the ASU believes that the terms and conditions in the proposed Qantas Courier Enterprise Agreement fall short of the conditions that other employees in the similar businesses get.
No-one has ever suggested that ASU members at Qantas Courier do not work just as hard, if not harder, than employees at other courier companies in the Qantas group, and therefore they should be paid similar wages.
Particularly disappointing for ASU members is that a matter that members thought had been settled, the payment of overtime to part-time employees when working beyond their agreed hours, has not been reflected in the draft EBA issued for voting.
In the Clerks Private Sector Award that the Qantas Courier Enterprise Agreement is measured against, a part-time employee working overtime is entitled to overtime for that day. Clause 14.11 of the draft Agreement shows that a part-time employee working beyond their normal rostered hours won't receive the overtime rates. The ASU believes this is unfair.
Voting on the Agreement
It is important that everyone votes. The Enterprise Agreement will be made if a majority of those employees who vote approve the agreement.
This means if only 20 people vote and 11 of those approve the agreement, then the agreement will pass. If you do not agree with the proposed enterprise agreement, this is your only chance to say NO otherwise those that vote will set the conditions for all. Your vote counts!
Who to Contact
