Discussions on new wages & conditions begin at Aerocare

23 February 2017 By ASU, the airlines industry union

Thanks to the many people across Australia that have taken the time to fill in our survey about what things you would like to see in your new employment agreement (EBA)

aerocare eba2017 web button v2If you have not filled in our survey you still can at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AeroCareEBA2017

Your name and details will be kept completely confidential.

From your responses we have put together a list of issues (also known as “claims”) that you have told us need to be improved.

Your negotiators gave this list to the company when we met with the company CEO Greg Shelley and their consultant in Sydney on 22nd February 2017. A copy of the list is on the back of this bulletin.

The company gave us a copy of the list of their proposed changes to the agreement which was sent to staff on 20 February 2017.

We will need more detail about the company’s proposed changes before we can assess what we recommend saying about each of them.

Like every negotiation the first offer is not usually the “best” offer nor does it necessarily meet peoples expectations. Any offer needs to be expertly assessed so you can decide whether the offer is in fact good for you or not and the ASU will do this with you so that you are clear on what you are entitled to. We are keen to know what you think too.

What’s next?

Both the ASU & the TWU have agreed to work together on the negotiations for this agreement. Working together will give us all the best opportunity to secure a good result during the EBA negotiations. It is really important to join your union to ensure that every member gets a chance to get the expert advice of our unions about negotiations and what is fair.

Aerocare has a workplace relations expert helping them, employees at Aerocare can be members of the ASU or Transport Workers Union to get expert industry advice, information and representation.

To join the ASU, you can join online now at our secure form: www.asu.asn.au/asujoin

Please remember that it is illegal for a company to threaten you in anyway for joining a Union. The ASU takes this very seriously, please advise us if you feel that you are being discouraged from or intimidated about joining the Union. Many of your colleagues have already joined, get on board with the ASU.

Next meeting

We expect our next meeting to be during the week commencing 6 March 2016. Watch out for more details.
